Rudrapur: Panic has gripped the residents of Kashipur after a bull killed Prem Singh Rawat, 73, a resident of Sainik Colony of Hempur Depot in Pratappur village of Kashipur in district Udham Singh Nagar, two days ago. The bull, which has become increasingly aggressive, trampled Rawat, leading to widespread fear among the villagers.

Following the tragic incident, villagers are advising the elderly and children to stay indoors. Initial attempts by the Animal Husbandry Department to capture the bull were unsuccessful, prompting the Forest Department to step in.

Gram Pradhan Pradeep Rajput said that six to seven bulls had appeared in the area over the past year, causing disturbances. “We managed to release six bulls into the forest three months ago, but one bull remained and has now turned aggressive,” he said.

Residents, including Ganga Prasad, Alok Dutt, Rajendra Singh Negi, and Manmohan Singh, reported that families are keeping vulnerable members inside for safety. Rajput has reached out to the administration and Forest Department for urgent intervention.

Dr MK Dumka, Veterinary Officer of Kashipur’s Veterinary Hospital, said, “No animal attacks without reason. The bull attacked only when the old man threw a brick. I urge the public not to provoke animals.”

Dr Mani Mehra from the Veterinary Hospital in Pratappur said, “Despite a 2-3 hour search, the bull was not found. Villagers should stay vigilant and report any sightings.”
