The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) has initiated plans to operate 70 new ordinary CNG buses on contract along the Delhi route from various depots in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. This move is part of the Corporation’s ongoing efforts to reduce pollution and promote eco-friendly public transportation.

According to an official statement by CP Kapoor, General Manager (Operations) at UTC, “The contract period for each bus will initially be six years, with the possibility of extending it by one year if the buses remain in good condition. Our aim is to ensure efficient and environment-friendly travel between major cities in Uttarakhand and Delhi.”

As per UTC’s plans, 13 buses will run between Dehradun and Delhi, 7 between Haridwar and Delhi, 6 between Rishikesh and Delhi, and 1 bus will operate between Kotdwar and Delhi. In the Kumaon region, 12 buses will run between Haldwani and Delhi, 5 between Ramnagar and Delhi, 7 between Rudrapur and Delhi, 5 between Kashipur and Delhi, 10 between Roorkee and Delhi, and 4 buses between Tanakpur and Delhi.

“The Corporation has invited both online and offline tenders for the project, which will remain open until September 18,” Kapoor added. Each bus will have a capacity of 52 seats and is expected to cover approximately 400 to 500 km daily, depending on the route.

Bus owners will receive CNG at a subsidized rate of Rs 5.20 per km from the Corporation, and payments will be processed monthly based on the bills submitted. Kapoor said, “If needed, buses may be diverted to other routes based on demand.”
