2 drug peddlers caught with smack worth Rs 85 L in joint police operation

The Pulbhatta Police and Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Kumaon Unit arrested two interstate smugglers, seizing 275 grams of smack valued at around Rs 85 lakh in the international market. The accused, Veerpal from Noorpur Vijruk village and Sher Singh from Kinona village in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, were arrested on the night of November 5 near Crown Hotel on Bareilly Road.

“Based on a tip-off, our joint team executed a successful operation, leading to the arrest of two notorious smugglers involved in the illegal trade,” said SSP Manikant Mishra. A search revealed 112 grams of smack on Veerpal and 163 grams on Sher Singh.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to sourcing the smack from a supplier named Chandrasen in Bareilly and distributing it across Uttarakhand for substantial profit. Police have registered a case against both suspects and their abettor, Chandrasen, under relevant sections, and they have been presented in court for remand.
