Two more senior police officers of Telangana have been arrested in the case of spying on opposition leaders. Two ASP rank officers have been arrested. Earlier, D Praneet Rao, former DSP of Special Intelligence Bureau, was arrested. Now the arrested officers also include N Bhujang Rao, who was in SIB Tirupattana and CM Security Cell. It is alleged that during the BRS government in the state, he used to spy on opposition leaders.
Tirupattana is accused of tapping the phones of opposition leaders while he was in the surveillance team. After this he used to report to SIB chief T Prabhakar Rao. He is also on the radar of the state government. Both the ASPs were called to Banjara Hills Police Station. It was here that Praneet was being interrogated for the last one week. Along with Praneet, two ASPs were also interrogated.
Hyderabad Police has claimed that during interrogation, both the police officers admitted that they were involved in the conspiracy. He is also accused of damaging public property to destroy evidence against him. When police reached Prabhakar Rao’s residence on Friday, it was found that he had gone abroad after BRS’s defeat in the state. After this the police team reached the house of Bhujang Rao and the CEO of a Telugu media channel. He is also accused of being involved in the conspiracy.
Bhujangrao is accused of passing on the information. It is alleged that he used to give information to prominent people in the state cabinet. He soon got posted as ASP. DCP West Jan SM Vijay Kumar is monitoring the investigation. After the arrest, efforts are being made to find out from both the police officers who was being spied on.
