Day 5 of the 38th National Games delivered an electrifying spectacle in the aquatics arena, with top swimmers excelling across multiple events, setting records, and engaging in fiercely contested races and water polo matches.
Swimming Events:
Women’s 1500m Freestyle (Event 25):
Delhi’s Bhavya delivered a commanding performance, clocking 17:42.81 to secure the gold. Karnataka’s Aditi followed with a silver at 18:11.92, while her teammate Shirin claimed the bronze at 18:14.98.
Men’s 400m Freestyle (Event 26):
Delhi’s Kushagra clinched the top spot with an impressive time of 3:57.89. Karnataka’s Aneesh took silver with 4:00.45, and Gujarat’s Aryan Nehra secured bronze at 4:02.60.
Women’s 100m Backstroke (Event 27):
West Bengal’s Soubrity emerged victorious with 1:06.66, while Maharashtra’s Pratishta finished a close second at 1:07.52. Odisha’s Pratyasa took bronze with 1:07.77.
Men’s 100m Backstroke (Event 28):
Karnataka’s Srihari bagged gold with a swift 56.26, edging out teammate Akash, who clocked 56.36. Maharashtra’s Rishabh secured bronze with 56.80.
Women’s 50m Butterfly (Event 29):
Karnataka dominated this event, with Nina finishing first in 28.38, followed by teammate Dhinidhi at 28.80. Maharashtra’s Rujuta rounded out the podium with 29.12.
Men’s 50m Butterfly (Event 30):
Tamil Nadu’s Benedicton stole the spotlight by not only winning gold but also setting a new national record with 24.39. Maharashtra’s Mihir took silver with 25.02, while Haryana’s Harsh claimed bronze at 25.22.
Water Polo Results:
1. Men’s Match 20: Punjab secured a dominant victory over Karnataka with a score of 14-6.
2. Women’s Match 21: Maharashtra edged past West Bengal in a closely contested game, winning 9-7.
3. Women’s Match 22: Kerala displayed their defensive prowess, defeating Karnataka 8-3.
4. Men’s Match 23: Maharashtra cruised past Kerala with a decisive 10-3 victory.
5. Men’s Match 24: SSCB emerged victorious against West Bengal in a nail-biting match, winning 12-10.
