Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami felicitated the medal winners of the 38th National Games cycling event at the Sports Stadium Velodrome on Thursday. He personally awarded medals and ‘Pahadi’ caps to the winners and extended his best wishes for their future.

CM Dhami arrived at the Shivalik Velodrome to witness the track cycling competition and interacted with the athletes. Displaying enthusiasm, he even cycled on the track alongside the participants. Later, he honored the winners of the men’s team pursuit 4000-meter competition, gold medalists from the Services Sports Control Board, silver medalists from Punjab, and bronze medalists from Rajasthan.

“Hosting the National Games is a moment of immense pride for Uttarakhand. Around 20,000 individuals are directly and indirectly contributing to its smooth execution,” said Dhami. He assured the athletes of top-notch facilities and added, “I have instructed officials to ensure there are no shortcomings in the arrangements for players. Their comfort and performance are our priority.”

“Our athletes have already won over 30 medals, and their performance continues to improve,” he said.

Speaking about the games’ broader impact, Dhami recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Uttarakhand. “The Prime Minister said from the land of Baba Kedar that the third decade of the 21st century will be Uttarakhand’s decade. His words are turning into reality.”

Following the cycling event, Dhami inaugurated the Shotgun and Skeet Shooting competition at the 46th Battalion PAC by cutting the ceremonial ribbon and performing a Puja. He also participated in tap shooting and interacted with the shooters, wishing them success in the competition.

“The 38th National Games, inaugurated by PM Modi in Dehradun on January 28, will conclude in Haldwani on February 14, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah presiding over the closing ceremony”, Dhami said.
