Rudrapur: In a significant move towards environmental conservation and operational enhancement, the North-Eastern Railways has unveiled Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trains on the Ramnagar-Moradabad track, replacing diesel-powered trains. This initiative aims to mitigate environmental pollution while reducing operational costs and travel time for passengers. Under this initiative, a slew of new train services have been introduced for the Ramnagar-Moradabad and Kashipur of district Udham Singh Nagar routes.

Rajendra Singh, the Public Relations Officer of Izzatnagar North Eastern Railway, said, “Electric train MEMU has been operated by converting the diesel train between Ramnagar-Moradabad and Moradabad-Ramnagar. This will clean the environment and save money and time”.

For years, diesel-powered trains had been predominant on the Ramnagar-Moradabad route, exacerbating environmental pollution and imposing substantial diesel expenses on the railways. Responding to these challenges, the Railways swiftly executed the transition to MEMU trains, promising enhanced convenience and time savings for passengers.

Notable among them are train numbers 05368 Ramnagar-Moradabad, 05367 Moradabad-Ramnagar, 05366 Ramnagar-Moradabad, 05334 Moradabad-Ramnagar, 05333 Ramnagar-Moradabad, 05353 Moradabad-Kashipur, 05354 Kashipur-Moradabad, and 05365 Moradabad-Kashipur, which have all been replaced with electric MEMU trains.

Additionally, the conversion of train services 05351 Bareilly City-Kashipur, and 05352 Kashipur-Bareilly City DEMU to MEMU will further contribute to efficiency and sustainability. Notably, the installation of dual engines in these trains will alleviate shunting inconveniences, thus optimizing time management.
