Ahead of the visit by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, the Uttarakhand police held a comprehensive security briefing at the Mini Stadium in Haldwani for all officers deployed on VVIP duty.
Inspector General (IG) Crime and Law & Order, Uttarakhand, Nilesh Anand Bharne, briefed the police force about ensuring flawless security and maintaining public-friendly behavior during duty. “All personnel must remain alert, carry out their responsibilities diligently, and work in alignment with threat perceptions at each duty point,” said IG Bharne. He stressed strict adherence to VVIP protocol and emphasized courteous interaction with the public.
The briefing was attended by several senior officers, including IG Kumaon Range Ridhim Aggarwal, IG Security Intelligence HQ Karan Singh Nagnyal, and SSP Nainital Prahlad Narayan Meena. Officers were instructed to maintain a secure perimeter at the venue, prevent unauthorized access, and ensure efficient traffic management along the VVIP route.
Officials also shared their insights on the intricacies of VVIP duties. In light of recent national security incidents, IG Security advised all personnel to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to senior officials.
SSP Nainital directed the force to prioritize public convenience alongside security. “Traffic diversions must be planned in a way that ensures smooth public movement,” he said. SP Crime/Traffic Nainital also outlined the detailed deployment plan and route arrangements for the Vice President’s fleet.
A debriefing was also conducted post-fleet rehearsal to assess arrangements such as barricading, rooftop deployment, and the need for additional forces.
A total of 1,099 personnel, including 29 gazetted officers, 289 SIs/Inspectors, 776 constables, and five PAC companies, have been deployed for the VVIP visit.
