Can’t buy daughter insulin: Debt-ridden businessman shoots himself on Facebook Live

A real estate businessman in Lucknow died by suicide after going live on Facebook, where he spoke about his financial distress and inability to provide insulin for his diabetic daughter. According to police, the businessman used a security guard’s rifle to shoot himself at his office shortly after the broadcast.

 

In the Facebook Live video, the businessman appeared emotional and tearful. He said he was struggling under the burden of crores of rupees in debt and could no longer manage the financial pressure. He appealed for help from film personalities and industrialists, stating that he had exhausted all means of support.

Family members, upon seeing the live video, alerted the police and rushed to the spot, but he had already taken the step by the time they arrived. Initial investigation suggests that the businessman had been under severe financial stress for the past few years. Police officials said he was mentally disturbed due to mounting debt.

A case has been registered, and the police have begun an investigation. One of the key aspects under scrutiny is how the businessman gained access to the security guard’s firearm. Police are also speaking to family members, business partners, and associates to determine the full circumstances behind the incident.
