The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) has recently approved a significant increase in power tariffs across the state. Effective immediately, households will experience a surge in electricity costs, marking a notable adjustment in their monthly expenses.
Under the new tariff structure, households consuming up to 100 units monthly will witness a rise from ₹3.15 per unit to ₹3.40 per unit. Beyond this threshold, consumers can expect a more substantial increase, with rates soaring from ₹4.90 per unit to ₹7.35 per unit.
“The decision to revise the power tariff reflects the need for sustainable infrastructure development and maintenance,” stated a UERC spokesperson. “While it may pose a short-term burden on consumers, it is imperative for ensuring reliable electricity supply and fostering long-term sustainability,” the spokesperson added.
The revision aims to address operational costs and facilitate infrastructural enhancements to meet growing demand. Residents are advised to adjust their budgets accordingly.
