The Fisheries Society of the College of Fisheries, Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar successfully organized “Fisheries Night – Anahita 2026” on 16th May 2026 with great enthusiasm, cultural spirit, and togetherness. The event served as a celebration of talent, achievements, and unity among students, faculty members, and dignitaries, while also carrying the emotions of a farewell for the outgoing seniors.
The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of distinguished dignitaries including Dr. S. K. Kashyap sir – Honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Deepa Vinay ma’am – Registrar, Dr. V. C. Dhyani sir – Dean Student Welfare, Dr. J.P. Jaiswal sir – Director Communication and reverent other deans and directors.
The programme was also honored by the presence of Dr. Avdhesh Kumar, Dean, College of Fisheries, Staff Counsellor – Dr. Ashutosh Mishra, Co-Staff Counsellor – Dr. Akansha Khati and other faculty members Dr. Vipul Gupta, Dr. Anup Kumar and Dr. Rajesh.
The evening commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the dignitaries, followed by the University Song, which filled the atmosphere with pride, unity, and respect for the institution. Furthermore, a warm felicitation of the guests and dignitaries was presented by the Dean and a formal welcome address by the Staff Counsellor.
During the programme, the dignitaries also addressed the gathering and motivated the students with their inspiring words. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. S. K. Kashyap appreciated the efforts and achievements of the College of Fisheries and remarked that the college has brought great laurels and recognition to the university through its consistent performances and activities. He also guided the students towards discipline, dedication, and excellence in their academic and professional lives.
Dr. Deepa Vinay, Registrar, while addressing the audience, expressed her admiration for the students of the College of Fisheries. She mentioned that although the college has comparatively fewer students and faculty members, still the talent, enthusiasm, and capabilities showcased by its students are remarkable and stand out among all the colleges of the university. Her words filled the students with pride and encouragement.
Also, the cultural segment included Ganesh Vandana, Bengali, Lavani, Salsa, Himachali, Semi-Classical, Pahadi and other dance performances. Poetry, singing and many other entertaining acts also showcased the diverse talents of the students. A special performance by the final year students made the farewell moments emotional and memorable for everyone present.
A significant highlight of the event was the presentation of the annual report by the President Mr. Pranjal Mishra and Vice President Miss Pooja Mehta of the Fisheries Society, where they summarized the various co-curricular activities conducted under the banner of the society throughout the session. Their presentation reflected the dedication and active participation of the students in different competitions like digital poster making, face painting, photography, debate, quiz, sports, Aipan making, poetry, sketching, best out of waste, slogan writing and others.
During the programme, all members of the Fisheries Society were felicitated by the honourable chair for their valuable contributions and active involvement. A special felicitation was also given to Miss Sabreena for her exceptional victory in Digital Poster Presentation in the National Workshop organised by ICAR-NAARM, bringing immense pride and recognition to the college.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the President and Vice President of the Fisheries Society, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, organizers, participants, and students for making the event successful and memorable.
The evening ended with a delightful dinner followed by emotional farewell moments, where juniors and seniors shared memories, laughter, and best wishes for the future. “Anahita 2026” thus became a memorable occasion celebrating achievements, friendship, culture, and the spirit of the Fisheries family.
