Rudrapur: Bringing pride to Uttarakhand and the nation, Chetan Prajapati, a talented Pencak Silat athlete from Rudrapur, has been selected to represent India at the Senior Asian Pencak Silat Championship, being held in Vietnam from July 15 to 23.
Chetan secured his place in the Indian national team after an impressive performance at the selection trials held last month at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex. His consistent performances and dedication earned him qualification for one of Asia’s most prestigious Pencak Silat events.
According to his coach, Bablu Diwaker, the championship will feature athletes from more than 20 Asian countries, making it one of the toughest continental competitions. Chetan is scheduled to face Kazakhstan in his opening bout.
A trainee at Diwaker Sports and Fitness Academy, Rudrapur, Chetan follows a rigorous training schedule, practicing 6 to 8 hours daily, divided between morning and evening sessions. His discipline, determination, and commitment have played a crucial role in his journey to the international stage.
This will be Chetan Prajapati’s first international championship, marking a significant milestone in his sporting career. Despite it being his international debut, the athlete and his coaching team are confident of delivering a strong performance against Asia’s best competitors.
Officials of the Pencak Silat Association Uttarakhand expressed their confidence in the young athlete, stating that Chetan has the potential to make the state and the country proud through his performance in Vietnam.
The entire sports fraternity of Uttarakhand has extended its best wishes to Chetan Prajapati and hopes he returns home with a medal, bringing further glory to India on the international stage.
