Pantnagar. The 15-day ‘Deeksharambh-2026’ program, organized for newly admitted students at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar has concluded. The event began with the garlanding and offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Addressing the students at the closing ceremony, the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Shivendra Kumar Kashyap, stated that Pantnagar University possesses a unique identity and culture, placing special emphasis on discipline, character building, excellence in education, research, and extension activities. He remarked that the university is not merely an institution but a workplace dedicated to empowering students for nation-building. He urged the students not to be disheartened by failure but to strive continuously for success and to contribute to the service of the nation by drawing inspiration from the life of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
University Registrar Dr. Deepa Vinay emphasized that discipline, punctuality, and persistent effort are the fundamental mantras for success. She noted that ‘Deeksharambh’ plays a crucial role in helping students understand themselves and providing appropriate guidance for their future lives. The closing ceremony also featured a student quiz, feedback sessions, group presentations, and report presentations. The program provided a strong foundation for the new students to connect with the university, learn, adapt, and move forward.
Welcoming the dignitaries and new students present in the auditorium, the Dean Student Welfare, Dr. Vipin Chandra Dhyani stated that the office of Dean Student Welfare is committed to the holistic development of students and the provision of comfortable residential facilities.
Coordinator of ‘Deeksharambh’, Dr. Chhaya Shukla reported that a total of 812 newly admitted students from various undergraduate courses participated in the program, which ran from August 18 to September 5, 2026 Organized in alignment with the National Education Policy-2020 and the report of the 6th Dean’s Committee of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research the program aimed to familiarize students with the university’s academic system, facilities, life values, life skills, and social and personal responsibilities, while helping them adapt to the university environment. The program included welcome and introductory sessions at the college level, interactions with teachers and counselors, tours of laboratories and various facilities, interactions with alumni, information regarding curricula and registration, sessions on human values, soft skills, and life skills, as well as visits to the library, KNSCCF, research facilities, and various colleges. General orientation sessions provided information on academic regulations, student welfare systems, road safety, stress management and mental health, financial planning, prevention of cyber fraud, anti-drug awareness, scholarships, awards and fellowships, hostel facilities and the Training and Placement Cell.
Deans of all colleges, Directors, faculty members and students were present on this occasion.
