Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Counting for the Lok Sabha elections is going on. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is seemingly suffering a huge loss from its 2019 elections’ tally of 302 seats. Even as some results have started coming, the current trends are showing the BJP at 243 seats. It is 29 seats short of the magic number of 272 to get a full majority and form the government. However, the NDA coalition is projected to win more than 295 seats. However, on its own, it is still to be seen if the BJP stretches its list of winning candidates or stop here, but if it fails to get the magic number on its own, who could be the possible kingmakers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government formation.
Amid such a backdrop, the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) ex-Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar from the JD(U) emerge as the possible kingmakers.
In today’s counting, the TDP has taken the ruling YSRCP by the storm in the Lok Sabha as well as assembly elections. In the Lok Sabha elections, it is leading on 16 seats, out of a total of 25 seats.
On the other hand, JD (U) has also cut above the rest in Bihar, leading on 14 seats in Bihar, more seats than the BJP is leading at 12.
With the support of Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar, the BJP can form the government for the third time in a row.
