Rudrapur: The CBSE Cluster-19 Kho-Kho competition for girls was inaugurated at Holy Child School today, with Surendra Kumar Bhutiani, State President and National Treasurer of the Kho Kho Association, presiding over the event. Bhutiani commenced the inauguration by introducing the players and hoisting the flag alongside the school’s Vice Chairman, Vikas Batra, Managing Director Pooja Batra, and Principal Mintu Dubey. Several other dignitaries, including Rajat Batra and Vinay Batra, were also present.
Following the flag hoisting, the teams from participating schools marched in a flag procession, representing their respective institutions. The inaugural ceremony featured vibrant cultural performances, including Ganesh Vandana, presented by students from different schools.
Vice Chairman Vikas Batra said, “The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organizes around 24 types of games every year to foster unity, goodwill, and friendship among students, contributing to their mental and physical development. This year, the responsibility of organizing the Cluster-19 Kho-Kho competition (girls category) has been entrusted to Holy Child School.”
Principal Mintu Dubey shared details about the scale of the event, noting that over 1,000 female students from approximately 100 schools across Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are participating. “This is the first time such a large-scale CBSE event is being organized in this region, and it is a matter of pride for our school. We have made special arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the competition, which will run until September 27”, he said.
Dubey further said, “We have provided adequate facilities, including electricity, water, 30 toilets, 50 accommodation rooms, food, medical aid, and CCTV surveillance for security. More than 120 school staff members have been deployed for these arrangements.”
Surendra Kumar Bhutiani encouraged the participants to uphold sportsmanship and discipline, saying, “I wish all the players the best of luck. Play with dedication, and success will follow.” The winning and runner-up teams will be awarded medals and trophies, with top performers earning a chance to compete at the national level.
