The Udham Singh Nagar police have arrested Darshan Singh, a resident of Gulab Ka Majhra in Kelakhera of Gadarpur, for running an illegal arms manufacturing factory in the area. The police acted on a tip-off and raided a location near Kulwant Nagar Nahal Barrage, where they seized a large quantity of illegal arms and manufacturing equipment.
The police recovered nine illegal weapons, including four 315 bore pistols, three 12 bore pistols, one 12 bore country made gun, and one country made short gun, along with several cartridges and materials used for making firearms.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manikant Mishra, “Darshan Singh has been arrested with nine weapons. The accused was involved in manufacturing illegal arms, and we have registered 13 cases against him in the past. He is currently being produced in court.”
During questioning, Singh revealed that he sold each weapon for Rs 7,000 in Rampur, Rudrapur, Kichha, Haldwani, Bazpur, and Kaladhungi. Singh had been previously jailed for similar offenses related to arms manufacturing. A case has been registered against him, and he will be presented in court.
