The forest department in Terai Central Forest Division has intensified efforts to launch a jungle safari in the region, a move expected to boost tourism and create employment opportunities in the region. The proposed safari will connect the Terai forests to popular destinations, including Baur Reservoir, Gularbhoj, and Corbett National Park.
Gadarpur MLA Arvind Pandey, accompanied by officials from the Forest and Irrigation Departments, inspected the proposed safari route. The Forest Department has utilized satellite mapping to chart the pathway. A meeting was also held at the Baur Reservoir to discuss the project, attended by key officials such as DFO Terai Central Forest Division Rudrapur, UC Tiwari, and EE PC Pandey of the Irrigation Department.
MLA Pandey said, “We aim to establish Baur Reservoir on the world tourism map. The jungle safari is a crucial part of this vision. It will begin at Baur Reservoir, pass through Gadappu, Nihal Chowki, and Lambachaur, Haldwani, and connect Pipalparao, Kaladhungi, and Bhakra.”
DFO Tiwari said that satellite mapping of the route has been completed. “The jungle safari is expected to commence by February. Tourists will have the chance to experience the rich biodiversity of the Terai forest, including sightings of wild animals, migratory birds, and various bird species,” he said.
The safari promises to offer a unique blend of adventure and scenic beauty. Tourists will also have the opportunity to enjoy boating at Baur Reservoir as part of the experience. “The jungle safari will bring adventure and employment to the region. With route inspections and road repairs completed, preparations are in full swing to launch the jungle safari on schedule”, MLA Pandey added.
