Himalay Harbinger, Rudrapur: The Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), located in Kashipur of the Udham Singh Nagar district, is set to become the first ITI in the state to offer a trade course in Plastic Processing Operator. The institute will also introduce a new trade in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. These additions aim to meet the rising demand for technically skilled youth in the region’s industries, which manufacture plastic products like water tanks, bottles, disposable plates, and cans.
In response to industry needs, ITI Kashipur prepared a proposal three months ago to start the Plastic Processing Operator and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning trades. This proposal was forwarded to the Directorate and subsequently to the Government of India. A nominated team from the central government has already conducted a preliminary inspection. “We are awaiting final approval, after which the admission process for these courses will begin,” said JP Tamta, Principal of ITI Kashipur.
Upon approval, two units of the Plastic Processing Operator trade will be launched at the state level for the first time. Additionally, there is a proposal to increase one unit in Cosmetology, two in Electrical, one in Information and Communication Technology System Maintenance (ICTSM), two in Fitter, and one in Welder. “Modern machinery is already available at the institute, ensuring comprehensive training for students”, Tamta added.
