Rudrapur, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali, organized patient-centric awareness session to highlight the importance of Kidney transplant. The session showcased the remarkable journey of two young patients 22-year-old Himanshu Bhardwaj and 26-year-old Divyansh Gaba, who successfully underwent kidney transplant and are now leading a healthy and better quality of life.
The cases were led by Dr. Manoj K. Singhal Principal Director – Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation, from Max Super Specialty Hospital, Vaishali
Speaking upon the case of both the patients, Dr. Manoj K. Singhal Principal Director – Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation, from Max Super Specialty Hospital Vaishali said, 22-year-old Himanshu Bhardwaj was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and was on dialysis since May 2024 Shortly afterward, he too was diagnosed with tuberculosis. The physical and emotional toll of dialysis made it harder for him to focus on his future goals, his 50 years old mother gave a new lease of life by donating her kidney. Post his medication treatment of tuberculosis for xx months, the kidney transplant was performed. Mrs Gaba was discharged on the fifth postoperative day, and the recipient made a remarkable recovery, and was discharged on the eight-day post-transplant. Presently both of them are living healthy lives.”
Similarly, 26-year-old, Divyansh Gaba was diagnosed with Stage 5 chronic kidney disease (CKD) and had been on dialysis since 2022. With his mother suffering from poor kidney function and his father being diabetic, the family faced limited donor options. In a selfless act of love, his 50-year-old paternal aunt stepped forward to donate her kidney. Despite initial concerns about her age and health, thorough medical evaluations confirmed her suitability as a donor. During the assessment, she was diagnosed with tuberculosis in her chest glands. Following a nine-month course of treatment for TB, Divyansh was on dialysis, post the medication treatment the donor was declared fit to donate kidney The transplant was a success, the donor was discharged on fifth post operative days and recipient on eighth post operative days. Presently, Divyansh and her paternal aunt are living healthy lives.
Dr Manoj further added “Dialysis is a bridge, not a destination. With the right medical and familial support, transplantation offers freedom from frequent hospital visits, dietary restrictions, and fatigue. It’s about restoring normalcy.”
These critical cases successfully treated by Max Super Speciality Hospital, Vaishali, stands as a testament to the hospital’s commitment to not only treating patients but also educating the public of resilience, family support, and medical excellence.
