After spearheading India’s Green Revolution, Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar of district Udham Singh Nagar, is now setting its sights on the nation’s semiconductor revolution.
In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for self-reliance in semiconductor design and manufacturing, the university has acquired state-of-the-art Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools worth Rs 10 crore under the Government of India’s “Chip to Startup” scheme, backed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Additionally, the university is engaging with Taiwan-based semiconductor giant TSMC for access to advanced foundry technology.
“With these advanced EDA tools, our students and researchers can design cutting-edge circuits, conduct high-quality research, publish in reputed journals, and file patents. Our goal is to transform Pantnagar into a hub for high-tech semiconductor startups,” said Vice Chancellor Manmohan Singh Chauhan said on Wednesday.
Furthering this vision, the university’s Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department, led by RPS Gangwar, is introducing new VLSI-focused electives to nurture skilled chip-design professionals.
“With world-class infrastructure, Pantnagar University is poised to play a crucial role in India’s semiconductor self-sufficiency”, Chauhan added.
VC inaugurates chancellor’s gold medal gallery
Rudrapur:The university, established in 1960, has been honoring its top academic performers with the Vice Chancellor’s Gold Medal since 1963.
