Pantnagar Agricultural University reaches Agreement with Two Russian Universities

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan, who has been on a two-week visit to Russia, signed an agreement with St. Petersburg University. On 27 September 2024, an MoU was also agreed upon with two Moscow universities—Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, and Russian State Agricultural University, Moscow. The MoU focuses on technical research and educational exchange in the field of veterinary science. A four-member delegation from Pantnagar University, led by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan, reached Moscow for the agreement.

On behalf of the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, Rector Dr. P. Sergei Vladimirovich, Dean of the Faculty of Moscow Veterinary Academy Dr. Abramov Pavel, and Dr. Alexander welcomed the delegation and provided a tour of the academy’s ongoing research work. Key research areas included studies on horses, wild sheep, and embryo transfer, along with veterinary clinics focusing on surgery, microbiology, biotechnology, genetic engineering, and genetic resource labs. They expressed hope that this MoU would lead to new breakthroughs in research.

In his address, Pantnagar University’s Vice-Chancellor Dr. Chauhan shared the progress of the university and its contribution to the Green Revolution, as well as its global standing. He highlighted the long-standing friendship between India and Russia, emphasizing that the technical and scientific exchange between the two nations would benefit both universities and countries in terms of production and productivity. Dr. Chauhan underscored the importance of various research areas in veterinary science, including animal cloning, ovum pickup technology, gene characterization, and vaccine production, which would be key areas of cooperation. He mentioned that this MoU would allow scientists and research students from both countries to collaborate and make significant contributions to the progress of both nations.

The four-member delegation included Dr. Shiva Prasad, Dr. K.P. Raverkar, Dr. S.C. Tripathi, and Dr. Jyoti Prasad along with Vice-Chancellor Dr. Chauhan.

Dr. J.P. Jaiswal, Director of Communications, stated that Vice-Chancellor Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan’s two-week visit to Russia was highly successful. During this visit, not just one, but three MoUs were signed with Russian universities to strengthen research and training in veterinary science, biotechnology, and agriculture.
