A plot to derail a train has been foiled in Haridwar, where detonators were reportedly placed on the Haridwar-Dehradun railway track. The incident comes amid a recent surge in railway accidents.
The Haridwar Government Railway Police (GRP) received information from the Moradabad Railway Division control room on Sunday night regarding detonators found near the Moti Chur railway station. A GRP team quickly responded to the scene and recovered the detonators.
CCTV footage captured a man acting suspiciously along the railway tracks. After reviewing the footage, police identified the suspect as Ashok, a resident of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, and he was subsequently arrested.
Authorities recovered several detonators from the accused. A case has been registered against Ashok. The motive behind his actions remains unclear, and he is currently undergoing interrogation
