Rudrapur: The Pan-African Intergovernmental Agency for Water and Sanitation (WSA) has appointed Sahil Singh as its ambassador and envoy to India, marking a groundbreaking moment as he becomes the first Indian to hold this prestigious position. At just 29, Singh sets a record as the youngest Indian ambassador to lead diplomatic efforts in water and sanitation, bridging India and Africa’s partnership in these crucial sectors.
“As the youngest Indian ambassador in history at age 29, I am deeply committed to strengthening the bonds between India and Africa,” Singh said while speaking with Himalaya Harbinger, highlighting his dedication to leveraging technology and innovation to tackle water and sanitation challenges while nurturing Indo-African partnerships.
Originating from Udham Singh Nagar district headquarters, Rudrapur, Singh has established himself as a distinguished academic, serial entrepreneur, and technology leader. His career began in 2013 with the Ministry of Communication and IT under the Government of India at the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT). He also served as Personal Secretary to the Minister of Ores & Minerals, Government of Uttarakhand, between 2016 and 2017. Singh holds 33 diplomas and certifications in computer science and IT, showcasing his technical depth.
Over the years, he has founded several tech firms internationally, and his business expertise has led him to positions as Managing Director, Chairman, and Advisor in multinational companies. Singh’s mission aligns closely with WSA’s objectives: “My appointment represents more than personal achievement; it’s an opportunity to harness India’s technological prowess to empower African nations toward sustainable water and sanitation solutions,” he further said.
WSA, a UN observer agency established in 1988 and formerly known as CREPA, serves all African nations, promoting sustainable water and sanitation through innovative models for economic and sectoral advancement.
