Udham Singh Nagar police apprehended a notorious drug smuggler, Kulwinder Singh alias Kindun, after a dramatic encounter in the Nanakmatta area on Sunday. The accused, shot in both legs, was found in possession of 140 grams of smack, valued at approximately ₹5 lakh in the international market. The police also recovered a pistol and cartridges during the operation.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manikant Mishra has been spearheading an intensified crackdown on drug-related crimes in the district. “Our commitment to eradicating drug smuggling is unwavering. This arrest is a message to those involved in such illegal activities,” said SSP Mishra.

Kulwinder Singh, son of Amar Singh and a resident of Pasaini village, is a habitual offender with a history of smuggling narcotics and forest products. He has previously served jail time for similar offenses in Sitarganj and Nanakmatta. SSP Mishra visited the government hospital where Singh was treated and personally reviewed the case’s details.
