US Nagar set to transition from aspirational to developed district says MoS Margherita

In a review meeting held at the Udham SIngh Nagar district collectorate auditorium, Pabitra Margherita, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, lauded the remarkable progress of the district under the Aspirational District Program. Chairing the meeting, he commended the efforts of the district administration and various departments, highlighting the district’s consistent advancement.

“The current figures of Udham Singh Nagar are truly impressive, and the district is steadily progressing towards development,” said Minister Margherita. He added, “I am confident that the district will soon transition from an aspirational district to a developed one.”

The meeting commenced with a warm welcome to the Minister by Chief Development Officer (CDO) Manish Kumar, who presented a flower bouquet. During the session, CDO Kumar shared key achievements, detailing ongoing initiatives in education, health, agriculture, nutrition, skill development, and infrastructure.

He said that Udham Singh Nagar ranked 22nd among 112 aspirational districts, based on the March 2024 ranking. He also said that successful agriculture awareness programs encouraged farmers to shift from summer paddy to maize and sugarcane cultivation, alongside increased minor irrigation efforts. The district has achieved a 99.78% animal vaccination rate, the highest in the region.

CDO Kumar further informed about the expansion of Pantnagar Airport with a 3,000-meter-long runway, and ongoing developments in the Kichha Industrial Estate, AIIMS Satellite Centre, and Medical College. Additionally, with support from the European Bank, projects for drainage, sewage, and water supply in Kashipur and Rudrapur are underway.

Minister Margherita presented certificates to Deepa Kandpal, gram pradhan of Jawahar Nagar and Nirmala Singh, gram pradhan of Kiratpur for their contributions to sustainable cleanliness and health, marking World Toilet Day.
