A joint team of Udham Singh Nagar district police and Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested a man with 306 grams of smack, valued at ₹1 crore, during a late-night vehicle check on Monday. The accused, Mohammad Mohsin, a resident of Mohalla Ali Khan, Ward No. 23 in Kashipur, was nabbed near the Design Center. The scooty used in the crime has also been seized.
According to SSP Manikant Mishra, a joint team of Kashipur police and SOG Kashipur, led by Inspector Vikram Rathore and SOG in-charge Ravindra Singh Bisht, found Mohsin acting suspiciously while riding a scooty. Upon searching him, they recovered the contraband.
“During interrogation, Mohsin admitted to sourcing the smack from Rifakat, a resident of Bareilly, and selling it in small quantities in Kashipur for high profits,” said SSP Mishra.
SSP Mishra said that Mohsin has been jailed several times under the NDPS Act. Further inquiries uncovered that Mohsin and his family have amassed significant wealth through the drug trade. “We have identified some associates, and further legal action will follow,” Mishra added.
