Sahil Singh, a native of US Nagar district headquarter, Rudrapur, has been appointed as an ambassador of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Institution for the Use of Micro-algae Spirulina Against Malnutrition (IIMSAM). At just 30, he has become the first Indian to assume this role, bringing pride to Uttarakhand and India.

Sahil’s journey began in the classrooms of Rainbow Public School in Rudrapur. His father, Sewa Singh, is a civil contractor, while his mother passed away during the Covid pandemic. Currently, Sahil resides in Delhi, while his family lives in Rudrapur’s Green Park locality.

Before his appointment with IIMSAM, Sahil served as an advisor to Dr. Louis-Georges Tin, the Prime Minister of the State of African Diaspora, at the age of 27. His work helped foster strong bilateral ties between India and the African diaspora nation, particularly in industries, banking, and education.

Speaking to The Times of India, Sahil said, “Malnutrition remains a pressing issue in many underdeveloped nations, especially in Africa. Through IIMSAM, I aim to coordinate with developed countries to eradicate this crisis.”

He added, “I have previously worked with the United Nations on similar issues in India. In 2020, I joined hands with Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt to distribute one million Spirulina doses to undernourished children.”

IIMSAM has been operating under Article 102 of the UN Charter since 2001 and aims to fight global malnutrition through the promotion of Spirulina as a superfood.

Sahil was also earlier a delegate at the Model United Nations, showcasing his long-standing involvement in international affairs.

As news of his achievement spread, congratulations poured in from across the region, with Rudrapur residents celebrating the global recognition of their hometown hero.
