BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi, has launched Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology Outpatient Department (OPD) services at Kishore Hospital in Kichha, Rudrapur, expanding access to specialised cancer care in the region.
The initiative was inaugurated in the presence of Dr Manish Jain, Director and Unit Head, GI Oncosurgery, BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi, and Dr Rahul Kishore, Director, Kishore Hospital, Rudrapur.
As part of the initiative, Dr Jain will conduct OPD consultations at Kishore Hospital on the last Saturday of every month from 12 noon to 2 p.m., offering primary consultations and follow-up care to patients.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jain said the initiative aims to make specialised cancer consultation and treatment more accessible by bringing expert services closer to patients’ homes. He emphasised the importance of early detection and urged people to seek medical attention for warning signs such as unexplained lumps, vomiting blood, difficulty in swallowing, sudden weight loss, and other persistent symptoms.
He noted that gastrointestinal cancers affect organs of the digestive system, including the oesophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, liver, pancreas and gallbladder. If not diagnosed early, these cancers can spread rapidly to other parts of the body. He added that advanced technologies such as the da Vinci robotic-assisted surgical system have improved the precision of complex cancer surgeries, reducing post-operative discomfort and enabling faster recovery. The newly launched OPD will offer comprehensive consultations, personalised treatment planning and regular follow-up services.
Dr Rahul Kishore said the collaboration with BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital would significantly benefit patients in Rudrapur and neighbouring areas by providing access to expert GI oncology consultations and advanced cancer care closer to home.
With the launch of the specialised OPD, BLK-Max aims to strengthen access to tertiary cancer care in the region through advanced technology and a multidisciplinary team of medical and surgical specialists.
