Pantnagar, With the objective of promoting the conservation and development of cattle, a Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the ‘Destitute Cattle Conservation and Research Project’ was organized at the ‘C’ Block of the Haldi Farm area of the University Farm, Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar.
The ceremony was held in the gracious presence of University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shivendra Kumar Kashyap, Chief Guest Shri Ajit Mohapatra, Akhil Bharatiya Gau Seva Pramukh, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Special Guest Dr. Shailendra, Prant Pracharak, RSS, and Dr. Rajendra Antwal, Chairman, Uttarakhand Gau Seva Commission, Government of Uttarakhand.
Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shivendra Kumar Kashyap said that the cow has been an integral part of Indian culture and civilization since ancient times. He stated that cows have traditionally been revered as ‘Gau Mata’ because of their multifaceted importance to human life. Milk, dung and urine of cattle have significant applications in agriculture, healthcare and other fields. He expressed confidence that the project would play an important role in cattle conservation, development and research.
Chief Guest Shri Ajit Mohapatra said that cow’s milk is highly nutritious and beneficial for people of all age groups, from children to the elderly. He observed that the condition of destitute cattle in the present scenario is a matter of concern and emphasized the growing importance of concerted efforts for cattle conservation and welfare. He appreciated the University’s initiative in this direction.
Dr. S.K. Verma, Director Research, Dr. Amit Bhatnagar, Acting Chief General Manager, Farm, Dr. Ajay Prabhakar, Assistant Director, Farm, along with Deans of various Colleges and senior University officials, were present on the occasion.
