Pantnagar. An important meeting with all Assistant Professors of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, was organized in the Committee Hall of the University Centre under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Dr. S. K. Kashyap. Assistant Professors from various colleges and departments of the university participated in the meeting. The objective of the meeting was to strengthen teaching, research, innovation, and extension activities in the university and to establish agricultural education at national and international levels.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the role of teachers is extremely important in the present time. He stated that university teachers should not limit themselves only to classroom teaching but should also promote innovation-based research keeping in mind the needs of society, farmers, and students. He encouraged faculty members to develop research projects on contemporary and innovative themes such as agriculture, rural development, natural resource management, climate change, nutritional security, artificial intelligence-based agricultural technologies, and entrepreneurship development.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted that high-quality research is essential for transforming the university into a leading institution at both national and global levels. He motivated all Assistant Professors to publish research papers in reputed national and international journals. He further stressed that research should focus on solving farmers’ problems, enhancing agricultural productivity, and improving rural livelihoods.
He also emphasized the importance of promoting multidisciplinary research and collaborative work among different departments and institutions. Referring to the “coordination model” as the need of the hour, he stated that better research outcomes can be achieved when experts from diverse disciplines work together.
During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor also stressed the importance of time management, work culture, academic accountability, and long-term planning. He advised every teacher to prepare a clear academic and research roadmap for the next ten years and work towards well-defined goals. He further encouraged the adoption of innovative teaching methodologies, digital technologies, and practical-oriented education so that students can compete successfully at the global level.
Dr. S.K. Kashyap encouraged Assistant Professors to actively participate in academic visits, research collaborations, training programs, and knowledge-sharing activities with national and international institutions. He stated that the progress of the university depends upon the energy, positive outlook, and innovative capabilities of its teachers.
The Assistant Professors present in the meeting also shared their suggestions for making teaching, research, and extension activities more effective. The meeting concluded with detailed discussions on new opportunities for research and innovation within the university.
