_Pantnagar. 19 August 2026._ An orientation program was organised for newly admitted undergraduate students to GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. The program aimed at introducing the students to the university’s academic culture, facilities, opportunities, and student life. Vice-Chancellor Dr. S.K. Kashyap welcomed the newly admitted students. He stated that Pantnagar University is not merely a degree-granting institution, but a premier educational institution that fosters students’ all-round personality development, knowledge, skills, leadership, creativity, and innovation. He told the students that admission to the university marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, and they should utilize every opportunity available here positively. He encouraged them to move forward with discipline, hard work, curiosity, and a spirit of continuous learning. Dr. Kashyap emphasized that the current era is one of artificial intelligence, robotics, digital technology, and scientific innovation. In such a situation, students need to understand new technologies and learn their practical applications, not just limit themselves to bookish knowledge. He encouraged students to develop out-of-the-box thinking and identify real-world problems around them and find creative and scientific solutions. He stated that numerous challenges exist in agriculture and related sectors, and that young scientific minds can play a vital role in addressing these challenges. Students should develop innovative perspectives on issues such as agriculture, food security, climate change, sustainable development, and rural development. He advised the students to maximize the use of the university’s laboratories, research facilities, and other resources, and to make research, innovation, and entrepreneurship an integral part of student life. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that success is not limited to scoring good marks; character development, leadership, teamwork, communication skills, and social responsibility are equally important. He advised the gstudents to carry forward the university’s glorious tradition and utilize their knowledge and talents for the progress of society and the nation. Registrar Dr. Deepa Vinay welcomed the newly admitted students, apprising them of the University’s prestigious achievements, academic excellence, and significant accomplishments in various fields. She encouraged them to maximize the benefits of the academic, research, and co-curricular opportunities available at the University. Dean Student Welfare Dr. V.C. Dhyani welcomed the students. Convocation Coordinator Dr. Chhaya Shukla expressed her gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Directors, faculty, officers, staff, parents, and students for the successful organization of the program. During the convocation, students were introduced to various emerging areas, including soft skills, social adjustment, artificial intelligence, robotics, science and technology, and encouraged laboratory-based learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Deans, Directors, Staff Counselors, and faculty from various colleges of the University were present at the program.
