Haldwani: In a major crackdown under the “Drugs Free Uttarakhand” campaign, the Range Special Operations Task Force (SOTF) and Uttarakhand Police arrested a woman with 39.58 grams of smack in the Vanbhulpura area of Haldwani on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Rabia, wife of Faheem alias Babloo and a resident of the Ali Masjid area near a drain-side lane in Vanbhulpura, was apprehended during a joint checking drive conducted by the SOTF and local police. During the search, police recovered 39.58 grams of illegal smack from her possession.
Based on the recovery, a case under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused at Vanbhulpura police station, and further legal proceedings were initiated.
Police officials said the action was part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign being carried out across Kumaon under the “Drugs Free Uttarakhand” vision of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The drive is being conducted under the direction of Kumaon IG Riddhim Agrawal to curb the trafficking and sale of narcotics in the region.
The joint operation team included Sub-Inspector Manoj Yadav and Constable Dilshad Ahmad from Vanbhulpura police station along with members of the Range SOTF team.
Issuing a stern warning to drug traffickers, IG Kumaon Riddhim Agrawal said, “The police are fully committed to achieving the goal of a drug-free Uttarakhand. Strict action will continue against those involved in narcotics trafficking and those ruining the future of the youth.”
