User Awareness Programme on ONOS & INFLIBNET Services Organized at Pantnagar

University of Agriculture and Technology organized a one day User Awareness Programme on One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) and INFLIBNET Services in collaboration with INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujrat. The inaugural session was graced by Shri Nitin Singh Bhadauria, District Magistrate, as the Chief Guest along with Dr. S. K. Kashyap, Honourable Vice Chancellor of the University. Dr. Kruti J. Trivedi and Sri Raja V from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, attended the seminar as distinguished speakers. Programme organizers Dr. S. C. Tripathi, Dr. K. P. Saxena along with all Deans and Directors of the University were also present on the occasion.

Chief Guest Shri Nitin Singh Bhadauria appreciated the initiative and stated that such programmes are highly beneficial for students, researchers, and academic institutions. He shared of his experiences at BITS, Pilani, IIM, Banglore and later at LBSNAA, Mussoorie. He said that time spent at library was very productive. In the age of digitization now real challenge is that how to utilize latest technologies like AI, Bigdata, Blockchain etc to utilize the library effectively. He added that these efforts would contribute towards realizing the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and Hon’ble Chief Minister, Uttarakhand for strengthening digital education and research infrastructure in the country and the state, respectively. He ushered that in every block and town of the districts should have well equipped library, and hoped for an effective support from Pantnagar University.

Addressing the participants, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. S. K. Kashyap emphasized the importance of collaboration and highlighted that data is a valuable resource for comprehensive learning and research. He stated that preservation and accessibility of data are essential for the vertical and horizontal expansion of knowledge and described digital data repositories as highly significant resources for learners and researchers. He told that for QS World ranking no data is demanded from the institutions rather it is retrieved from the web site and in case of NIRF ranking also research papers related information is taken from Scopus data base. He said that due to digitisation there no burden of maintaining the record physically and told that the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) and INFLIBNET Services would proof to be very useful.

Dr. Kruti J. Trivedi, Senior Scientist presented a brief account of ONOS and INFLIBNET initiatives and their benefits and also shared the information about various resources such as Shodhganga and Shodh Chakra availbale for students and teachers in digital farm and emphasized the Centre’s efforts towards providing an open access platform for researchers and academicians.
